A labor of love from a Kingston resident with deep roots in Plymouth Colony history
Allan Wright
Kingston, Massachusetts
My name is Al, and I'm a long-time Kingston resident with deep roots in the early history of Plymouth Colony and Massachusetts. I always knew I had Pilgrim roots, but I didn't realize how many Kingston families were actually my own ancestors until I began researching the names for this site. That discovery reshaped the way I see this town and the people who built it.
I'm not a professional historian. I'm simply someone who believes that local history matters, and that the stories of ordinary people deserve to be remembered. Much of what I know comes from decades of research done by my mother, who quietly preserved our family's lineage long before genealogy became popular. Her work opened the door for me to understand how my own family fits into the larger story of early Massachusetts.
As I've dug deeper, I've realized that the history of Kingston isn't just something in books or archives — it's woven into the land we walk on, the names on our streets, and the families who have lived here for generations. My goal is to make that history accessible, accurate, and engaging for anyone who's curious, whether they're longtime residents or newcomers trying to understand the place they now call home.
After retiring from my 40-year career, I continue to run Compucare, the computer service business I've operated for 33 years, while developing Scambusters as a parallel education project focused on helping people stay safe from online scams.
Through this site, I share what I've learned: the connections between early settlers, the Indigenous people who lived here long before them, and the generations who carried these stories forward. I'm not here to elevate my own lineage. I'm here because I believe that when we understand where we come from — as individuals and as a community — we gain a deeper appreciation for the place we live and the people who came before us.
“If my research helps even one person feel more connected to Kingston's past, then this work is worth doing.”— Allan Wright
